We are Weatherly Police are committed to creating a safe, crime free environment by enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Constitution. Meet Our Officers

Officer Ashley Harris has been an Officer for the Weatherly Police Department since July of 2021. Harris is a Graduate of the Hazleton Area High School and worked at Central Air Freight for five years before she decided to make her career law enforcement. She is the granddaughter of a retired State Trooper. She also has an uncle who retired as a K9 police officer in West Hazleton and another uncle who worked and retired from Home Land Security.

She started Lackawanna Police Academy in November of 2020 and graduated in July of 2021. She was chosen as an apprentice for the Weatherly Police Department in March of 2021. Her skills and determination landed her a permanent position with the department in the summer of 2021. Since then, she has not only honed her skills as a police officer but has shown her leadership skills as well. She took first command during an intense police standoff back in 2023.

Officer Harris has also successfully completed training and certifications in active shooter, tactical communications, ARIDE, SFST, Woodland Tactical, First Aid/CPR, Traffic patrol/Drug interdiction, Tactical medical, Tactical communications and Enforcement of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Inspection Regulations. She is also a member of the Drug Task Force.

Edward Kubert began his Law Enforcement career in 2008, when he graduated from Lackawanna College

Police Academy. In February 2009, he was hired as a Patrol Officer with Weatherly Borough.

​

Officer Kubert currently performs the duties of the department’s Crime Scene Photographer,

Firearms Range Instructor, Vehicle, Equipment and Evidence Coordinator, and Field Training Officer.

He also serves in the supervisory capacity of Officer in Charge in the absence of the Sergeant or Chief.

​

During his tenure with the Weatherly Borough Police Department, Officer Kubert has been a member of the

Carbon County Drug Task Force.

​

In 1995, Edward earned an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management from Paul Smith’s College.

He also supported public safety for numerous years as a firefighter and officer with the Hometown Volunteer

Fire Company prior to joining the Police Department.

Officer Michael Eyer began his law enforcement career with the Weatherly Borough Police Department in

January of 2011 after successfully completing an internship with the department while attending the

Lackawanna College Police Academy in Hazleton full time and graduating in December of 2010. 

Prior to attending the Police Academy, Officer Eyer worked as an HVAC sheet metal apprentice out of

high school and is also a volunteer firefighter for several municipalities. 

​

Officer Eyer is, member of the PA Wildland Specialized Fire Crew and has been on several out of state

wildfire emergencies in Utah, California, and Idaho.  He has gained years of experience in helping others

and putting others needs before his own not just in the Commonwealth, but across the Nation. 

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, playing golf, hunting, fishing,

being outdoors and active.

Throughout his career he has completed countless hours of training aside from the yearly mandatory MPOETC

updates, but he has been fortunate to experience some training courses that aren’t offered to many, such as

Incident Response to Terroristic Bombings at New Mexico Tech, where he was able to see firsthand the

damage of simple household items that are being used to create extremely dangerous weapons.  He has

successfully completed trainings and obtained certifications in Traffic Patrol/Drug Interdiction, Raid Planning

and Risk Management, Tactical Narcotics, Vehicle Search and Seizure, Sobriety Checkpoints, Clandestine

Laboratory Awareness, Hazardous Materials, SFST, ARIDE, ALICE training, Active Shooter Training,

PA vehicle inspections regulations, tactical communications and de-escalation. 

 

Officer Eyer is also a member of Pennsylvania Narcotics Association (PNOA), Eastern States Vice

Investigators Association (ESVIA), a member of the Carbon County Drug Task Force, and is the

Departments Media Contact for press release information and social media contact.

Officer Sofia Hantz began her Law Enforcement career with Weatherly Borough Police Department in

October of 2021 after Graduating Lackawanna Police Academy in July 2021. Prior to employment with the

department, Officer Hantz worked 14 years as an Outlet Supervisor in Food & Beverage at Paradise

Stream Resort. Sofia took on many rolls while employed there from manager to security and many others. 

Sofia took the lead in coaching the staff, training and developing ideas to increase revenue.

​

Sofia brough her work ethic and eagerness to learn with her. She has already obtained several hours of

elective training since joining the department.  Some of those classes include;  SFST (Standardized Field

Sobriety Testing), Trauma Management, Interview and Interrogation,  CPR & RAMP.  

 

Sofia looks forward to taking her leadership rolls and incorporating them in her new roll as an Officer.

Officer Nicola Palermo

Officer Nicola Palermo graduated from Kings College in 2019 with a Bachelors Degree in

Criminal Justice and with a minor in Sociology. In November 2020 he was accepted into the

Lackawanna Police Academy and graduated in July 2021. He was then hired as a campus

police officer for Wilkes University. After working for Wilkes University he was hired by

Wyoming Area Regional Police and White Haven Police Department. In November 2023 he was

hired by Weatherly Police Department.

​

​He has completed trainings in Crisis Intervention Training and had also completed active

shooter training. On his spare time he trains at Drums Crossfit and participated in local

Crossfit competitions. He has been training in Jui Jitsu at Nepa Mixed Martial arts in the

Wilkes Barre area.

Officer John Molosky started with the Weatherly Borough Police Department in 1992. Officer Molosky worked

part time as a Patrolman until 2002 before resigning to take a job in the private sector.  In 2009 Officer

Molosky returned to the Department as a Part Time Officer/Investigator.  Officer Molosky also works as a

(DWCO) Deputy Wildlife Conservation officer for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. 

​

Officer Molosky has countless hours of training and accomplishments, Some of which are Homicide

Investigations, Narcotics Investigation, Interview and Interrogations, Arson Investigation, Occupational

Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Industrial Safety and Health. Officer Molosky has a total

accumulation of police training courses exceeding 3142 hours and other 232 credit hours working towards

his (CFI) Certified Fire Investigator.  Officer Molosky is a valuable asset for younger officers during their

employment, Officer Molosky brings a great deal of knowledge to Criminal Investigation.  He also serves

as an Interview Panel Member for police candidates for employment. 

​

Officer Molosky studied Criminal Justice at Bloomsburg University and a Graduate Course at Kings College,

he even published a Deer Management Article while at Bloomsburg University.

​

Officer Molosky has affiliation memberships with Pennsylvania Homicide Investigators Association,

Pennsylvania Narcotic Officers Association, Eastern States Vice Investigators Association, North American

Wildlife Enforcement Offices Association, Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania Association, Fraternal Order

of Police Christina Lodge #84, Fraternal Order of Police Conservation Police Lodge #114, Carbon County

Environmental Education Center, and The National Rifle Association Life Member. 

​

Officer Molosky Received a Certification of Nomination from the Pennsylvania Game Commission,

Northeast Region, Outstanding Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer in 2010.

Julie Stefanowicz was hired as the Weatherly Borough Police Department Administrative Assistant in 2022.

Before joining

the Department, she previously worked as news director at WYLN-TV in Hazleton. She attended Penn State

University and later enrolled in the Atlanta Broadcast Institute where she obtained her degree

in broadcasting.

​

Julie spent 16 years working in local news as a videographer and reporter before taking over the position

as news director in 2019. While working in the field, she covered many crime-related stories where she

became acquainted with members of both local and state law enforcement agencies. Julie also spends

time volunteering at the Weatherly and Carbon County Animal Shelters.

​

Using her background in media, she films police training sessions, classes and community events for

both the Police Department and Weatherly Borough.
